The Windsor Locks Youth Services Bureau recognizes that sometimes teenagers are looking for resources on a variety of subjects.  We have provided a list of sites that we hope that you will find helpful.


Al-Anon- For over 50 years, Al-Anon (which includes Alateen for younger members) has been offering hope and help to families and friends of alcoholics. Website: http://www.al-anon.alateen.org/english.html

Check Yourself- CheckYourself.com is a unique resource. It’s a place for older teens to think in a focused way about their relationship with drugs and alcohol, and invites them to consider whether their substance use risks turning into a problem for them. Free Vibe- This website provides a variety of resources reegarding substance use including facts and stories from other teens.  Website: http://www.freevibe.com/

Girl Talk- This website is designed to serve as a resource for Moms and girls to tackle the problem that underage drinking poses in their own families by providing them with useful insights and information to discourage their daughters from choosing to drink. NIDA for teens- The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), a component of the National Institutes of Heath (NIH), created this Web site to educate adolescents ages 11 through 15 (as well as their parents and teachers) on the science behind drug abuse. NIDA enlisted the help of teens in developing the site to ensure that the content addresses appropriate questions and timely concerns.  Website: http://teens.drugabuse.gov/about.asp.

loveisrespect, National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline is a national resource that can be accessed by phone or the internet. The Helpline and loveisrespect.org offer real-time one-on-one support from trained Peer Advocates. The National Domestic Violence Hotline operates loveisrespect, National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline from their call center in Austin, TX.

Peer Advocates are trained to offer support, information and advocacy to those involved in dating abuse relationships as well as concerned parents, teachers, clergy, law enforcement, and service providers.
